METHODOLOGICAL DEPARTMENT

     The department functions, under Decree No. 153 of the Ministerial Council of 28.07.2000 concerning the reorganization of cultural institutions into regional libraries and museums, as a coordinator for the libraries in the regions of Plovdiv, Pazardjic, Stara Zagora and Haskovo, regardless of their jurisdiction. The department specialists collect, analyze and offer, upon request by interested people and institutions, information about the libraries in the region with a view of making managerial decisions. The department provides expert consultations in the major fields of library practice:

• library management and marketing,
• library collections management,
• financial resource management,
• standard documents maintenance,
• personnel management,
• library information services,
• project management.

        The department is in custody of continued education of library specialists through organizing seminars, business meetings and training. The department's professional collection of books and periodicals amounts to about 3 500 library items in Bulgarian and foreign languages. The library science periodicals received through subscription, exchange and donations include 15 Bulgarian and 46 foreign titles. Access to the collection is made easier through the reference apparatus maintained, which includes:

   2. Subject catalogue
      • of books
      • of Bulgarian national standards in library science
2. system of card-index files:
   1. library science card-index file,
   2. numeration card-index file of BNS in library science
   3. card-index file on the Union of Librarians and Information Service Officers Bulletin,
   4. card-index file on the IVNL Year-book.

There is a specialized 10-seat reading room for our users.
