It was created in close cooperation with the US Embassy in Bulgaria and aims to provide the public with accurate and up-to-date information about the United States of America and to promote American culture, history and education. The center's task is to enrich the visitor's knowledge through a constantly updated information resource base including American books, encyclopedias, reference books, educational literature, periodicals, multimedia and electronic libraries with a diverse profile.

The American Corners program is an initiative of the US State Department for countries around the world with over 400 centers in around 60 countries. These are resource centers for information and programs that present culture, government, history and modernity of the United States. The centers are hosting discussion groups, seminars, digital video conferencing, exhibitions, and meetings with American and local experts on a wide range of topics related to the United States. For the needs of the region, US Centers provide books and electronic media for information and provide free internet access to educational materials.
